Artificial insemination through egg donation

The process explained in 9 steps

There is a lack of uniformity in Europe: egg donation is one of the procedures in Europe that is handled very differently from a legal point of view. In Germany, for example, the procedure is prohibited. Therefore, many German women who are affected by infertility use the possibility of egg donation abroad. The demand is great and it is increasing.

A study by the ESHRE (European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology) shows that a total of 39,000 egg donations were carried out in Europe in 2013. In an article from 25.01.2020, the taz states that 65,000 egg cell transfers were already carried out in 2016. In the USA, egg donation is an established standard treatment; in 2009, a total of 10% of artificial inseminations were carried out with donated eggs.
